The Market Street Singers first performed as the Ballard Festival Choir during the Ballard Art Walk in September.
In December, we brought our first holiday program to the Swedish Hospital Ballard Campus (pictured below), Foss Home and Village, and other venues.
We put on a concert with the theme, "Winter into Spring", at the Ballard Odd Fellows Hall for the Ballard Art Walk in March, and reprised it at at the Foss Home and Village, and the Whittier Care and Rehabilitation Center.
In April, we joined other local groups in a concert at North Seattle Community College, to support UNICEF relief for victims of the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
We were invited to join the celebration for the opening of the new Ballard Public Library in May.
On May 17, we observed Norwegian Constitution Day with a concert at the Ballard Odd Fellows Hall.
In September, we hosted "Friendship", a multi-media performance benefitting
a family hit particularly hard by Hurricane Katrina.
For the second year, we performed our Christmas concert at Ballard senior centers.
Here we are at the Columbia Lutheran Home.
In March, we presented our first full-length concert, "Shilshole on the Pacific Rim", featuring music from Asia, Australia, South America, and the Pacific Northwest, at the Nordic Heritage Museum. This concert was made possible by a grant from the City of Seattle's Department of Neighborhoods' "Small and Simple" Matching Funds Program. (Press release, August 2005)
The first two photos show us rehearsing; the second two were taken at the concert. The last one shows guest artists Elizabeth and John Falconer, of Duo-En, tenor soloist Brandon Higa, didgeridoo master Stuart Dempster, and members of the Halau Hula 'O Lono dance troupe.
In October, we performed "Pardon Our English", a program of choral music by early and modern English composers, at St. Luke's Church, as part of the Ballard Art Walk.
In May, we sang a selection of songs chosen by the choir members, "Make Your Own Kind of Music", a concert for Ballard Art Walk, at St. Luke's.
On Memorial Day, we put on "Go the Distance" with the Sun-Hak International Youth Choir, at Trinity United Methodist Church, to raise money for the Northwest Senior Center. Click on the thumbnail to download the concert program as a PDF.
Our September concert, "Be Our Guest! Adventures in Animated Renaissance", featured 16th-century madrigals and theme songs from Disney movies. We performed it at The Hearthstone (below), as well as St. Luke's Church. Click on the left thumbnail to download the concert program as a PDF.
We returned to The Hearthstone in December, to present our Christmas concert (first two photos). We also performed for the first time at the Ballard Landmark.

We celebrated our fifth anniversary with a concert at Trinity United Methodist Church in June.

"Let's Misbehave" was an entire program devoted to minor vices and bad habits. We performed it in a new venue for us, the Ballard Big House, in September.
